Birds in the bush

We’ve invited Tanya Loos back and this will be our third bird walk with her. Tanya Loos is a field naturalist and nature writer - with a special interest in birds, flora, insects, reptiles, and mammals. We love her walks - she is super knowledgeable and a great guide. Members are invited to join us and location details will be shared in our April newsletter coming soon. Bring your own water, sunscreen and binoculars if you have them! This is a list of some of the plants we encountered along our walk with Tanya Loos. Feel free to email us if you were on the walk and remember more of what was there!

Trees

Messmate Stringybark - Eucalyptus obliqua

Narrow leaved Peppermint - Eucalyptus radiata

Swamp gum - Eucalyptus ovata 

Blackwood - Acacia melanoxylon

Cherry Ballart - Exocarpos cupressiformis  

Hazel Pomaderris -  Pomaderris aspera

 Shrubs / small trees

Narrow leaved Wattle/ Sallow Wattle - Acacia mucronata

Prickly Moses - Acacia verticillata

Hop Goodenia - Goodenia ovata 

Prickly currant bush - Coprosma quadifida 

Prickly tea-tree - Leptospermum continentale

Ephemeral wetland

Weeping grass - Microleana stipoides 

Blue flax-lily - Dianella revoluta 

Red-fruit Saw Sedge - Gahnia sieberiana

Rush - Juncus (not sure which species)

Star Creeper - Pratia pedunculata

Wood sorrel - Oxalis ((not sure which species)

Fishbone fern - Nephrolepis cordifolia
